Prevention and the parenting support.
The Prevention and the parenting support action provide by Paroles de Famille,helps the French Guianese families, with among them a lot of young parents.
That action aims to reinforce parenting skills, to break isolation et upgrade kids’ andparents’ welfare.
The ward offers several practical workshops, like coffee between parents, parentingtrainings to reflect on how to be a parent and what it is to be one.
For the youngsters, workshops about their emotions, relationships, addictions orscreentime are on the menu.
The personnel have been fairly trained in order to give to the families the bestsupport of all.
All of this without any form of judgement and with the embracement of all culturesexisting in French Guiana.
Paroles de Famille works with other organizations in order to deliver useful andaccessible actions towards everyone.
Meeting place.
The meeting place provide by Paroles de Famille is a neutral, secured, andtemporary place, allowing a kid to see the parent he does not live with all the time, ora estranges grand-parent or anyone else with whom the relationship in strained,broken or just difficult.
This place helps families maintaining or taking contact again in excellentcircumstances by always putting children first. It welcomes separated parents, kidswho does not want to see one of his parents, grand-parents, or siblings from anothermarriage or from a recomposed family.
Family mediation.
The family mediation is a space where dialogue is structured directed by a neutralprofessional, allowing the restoration of communication, to handle families’ conflictsand rebuild the family bond.
This action can be initiate by a family judge or a children judge or by the familiesthemselves. It was conceived especially for families going through difficulties:separated parents, divorcing parents, parents and teenagers who can speaktogether without fighting, grand-parents who would like to see and have arelationship with their grand-kids.
Paroles de Famille adapts the family mediation to the local environment with :
- A respectful and cross-cultural approach of the families
- A remote mediation (via phone or video conference) for families who aregeographically isolated or are unable to move.
A territorial presence with a reception in Matoury is currently delivered but with inmind in the future to do as well in Macouria, Kourou and eventually Saint-Georges.
